Bernadette

by Paul Shepard

about

This album was released almost a year ago on Jamendo.com. One reviewer called it "both sarcastic and tragically beautiful," and went on to say of me, "He sings us obscure references and personal revelations through winding, ear-worm melodies with an endearingly sweet, deadpan, enunciated delivery, all over delicate guitar playing and the occasional harmonium." I learned since then that what I use (a Magnus Diamond) isn't technically a harmonium, but whatever. Some of my listeners thought it was an accordion, and that's even further from the truth. One day I'll tell someone about the cave where I encountered Bernadette (a strange Goddess, she...) and what went down there. I am prouder of this album than of any I've done to date.
