about

Witness Paul Shepard's triumphant return to the "TOTALITARIAN-FOLK" style he invented all by himself, alone.

This EP has aliens and poisonous pumpkins and sex appeal. It has ethnic comparisons and hymns to insomnia. In its pages (whaaa?) reside hella this and hella that: the Devil is in it. The "coolest brunette in the world" is in it. That Ecuadorean-Brazilian xenophobe culture that kills you if you hit on their women? They're in it.

Herein is contained lots of Love, lots of Fear, hella Hate, and all manner of Strangeness and as a matter of fact: It is true musical Gospel and it's really funny and super-cool but hey, why take my word for it?

(Bee rull and don't h8, it ain't second r8 -- but oh shit, w8, ahm late for a sk8 d8!)

Lest you criticize the Fi in some parts, I assure you the sound is supposed to be a little harsh in places, like a beauty-factory.
Lest you level charges of "Overproduction," I remind you that the same was said of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts' Club Band. And unlike the good Sgt., my lyrics are meaningful and intelligent.

You don't believe me? SEE FOR YOURSELF.

"...It's painful to remember, but once I met the Devil.
All he did was yell at me and all I did was tremble
'Til he took me for a scribe and I served him faithfully
and I know I'd kick this 'writer's block' if He returned to me!..."

............................................................................

In Nuce: if you liked my "Bernadette" - and liked it for the correct reasons - I'm fairly surely you'll like and even prefer "Real Eyes." So go ahead and give it a listen!

What do you have to lose? Your soul?

Maybe,
Paul Shepard

(PS -- Please refer to the credits to see the one whose eye captured the album art and the voices not mine, lent by my closest friends. It takes a great big testicle to let yourself be thusly puppeted. Bigger than yours. And far, far bigger than mine!)
